People USA’s hopeful expectation toward recovery is based on four pillars: engagement, environment, mutuality and philosophy.
Having had lived experience ourselves, we know that we cannot help others down the path toward behavioral wellness unless that is what they want. To be of any help at all, we have to make a true connection. There has to be absolute trust. It must be person-centered, meaning it is our mission to help you meet your behavioral wellness goals, as defined by you.
Everyone on our staff has been there. All of us. We understand what our program participants are experiencing. We help them define what they want for their own futures, and connect them with resources that will help them get there on their own terms, building on their own strengths.
Before that can be successful, however, we must earn trust by welcoming our clients, being respectful of them, and always delivering on what we promise. We will clearly explain next steps and what is expected. We will follow through. That is what we mean by engagement.
