People USA was a lead partner in designing, developing, and implementing the Dutchess County Stabilization Center (est. 2017), the Northeast’s first crisis stabilization center. The Crisis Stabilization Center is a 100% voluntary walk-in hub for people of all ages to connect – 24/7/365 – with an integrated team of clinicians, peer specialists, and health professionals when they’re experiencing emotional distress, acute psychiatric symptoms, addiction challenges, intoxication, family issues, and other life stressors.
Crisis Stabilization Center guests have immediate access crisis counseling and behavioral health assessments, supervised withdrawal services (up to 23 hours), addictions and substance use counseling, peer advocacy and supports, youth and family counseling, and immediate linkages to other supportive, community-based resources.
“We really want to encourage people to work on their wellness while they are in the community and not have to continuously go back to the emergency department or the psych unit to get what they need to stay well.” – Joleen Darby, Site Director
